Review- A Quiet Place: Part 2

Image
Continuing right after the events of the first movie, the Abbott family (lead by Emily Blunt) must venture out into the world in search of other survivors, all while trying to avoid the monsters that have wiped out most of the population. Up until yesterday afternoon, it'd been about 6 months since I'd gone to the movies. Since the last movie I saw there was Wonder Woman 1984 , it had been even longer since I'd seen a good movie in theaters. So when I saw that A Quiet Place: Part II  had finally been released after more than a year of sitting on the shelf, I made an excuse to go back. Luckily, Part II was worth the wait. First off, the movie carries on the tradition set by  Part I  of giving you scene after scene of unending anxiety. Not going to lie, I had an interview yesterday where 3 different guys were asking questions about how qualified I was for the job, and this movie was still the most stressful part of my day. It barely lets you settle in before it shows Day 1

Review-"The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It"

Based on the real life case, the Warrens must help prove the innocence of Arne Johnson, a man claiming to have been possessed by the devil at the time that he committed a murder. The Conjuring (2013) is a modern horror classic. Not only are the scares genuinely terrifying, but it also features some great acting and an emotional story at its core. In short, it’s a tough one to beat, even for the other movies in its own series. To date, there have been 8 entries in The Conjuring universe, including spin offs for the Annabelle doll from the first entry and The Nun from the second. Unfortunately, none of them have come close to topping the original. So how does The Devil Made Me Do It compare? Since I hadn't heard much about this new entry and saw the middling reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, I assumed Devil Made Me Do It wouldn't be that great. And judging by the previews, it looked to be a rip off of The Exorcism of Emily Rose with it being half horror movie, half court case drama

AVATAR-Does It Hold Up?

Back in 2009,  James Cameron's Avatar was nearly impossible to avoid. Whether you were like me and you tried to see every movie you could that year, or rarely went to the movies at all, you knew that Avatar was a big deal. Despite not being completely won over by the trailer, I was quickly caught in the hype machine surrounding it. I mean, when people describe seeing it in 3-D and all but comparing it to seeing the face of God, how else are you supposed to react? Even after seeing it, I was still hyped about how cool it looked and even got it on Blu Ray when it came out. (Which is depressingly becoming an old fashioned statement).  Looking back, though, it's crazy to think that it was that big of a deal. What was it that drew so many people to the movies to check it out? Was it just for the special effects? Was it the fictional world of Pandora? Was it the smack you over the head environmental message?  Avatar garnered a worldwide gross of nearly 3 BILLION DOLLARS and becam
